Motorcycle gear is something I’ve been attracted to for quite some time. Full leathers are my favorite, especially when combined with a full face helmet and mirrored visor. The gloves, the boots, the suit, and the helmet all come together to transform the person wearing them into almost a robotic form. Tight leathers with armor force the wearer to walk and move in a certain way. I didn’t know any of this until I got to wear leathers for the first time. What a feeling it was – tight leather all around me, creaking everywhere. I was pretty well hooked then. I bought my first set of leathers from Craigslist. They had been well worn and were scraped in a few places. The only major issue I had with them was they were too loose. Leathers have to be tight. Around September, I replaced those with my current suit. It fits much tighter and looks great. I slowly acquired more gear to go with the leathers, eventually getting a full set of gear. It wouldn’t be until after that I decided to get a motorcycle. Most go the other way, getting the bike, then the gear.
Wearing full gear on a motorcycle isn’t just good sense, it looks hot! I usually ride in full leathers, though on occasion I’ll go with a motorcycle jacket, boots, helmet, and gloves. I eventually plan to get more suits and gear, now that I have a motorcycle. My current bike is a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja 500R, a great bike. It has pep. Now, with my full gear on and on my motorcycle, I can wear the gear so many more places. I also get waves and looks from other motorcyclists, something I didn’t quite expect. It seems that most wave to each other. It is pretty cool. Who knows how many are also into the gear like I am? I hope to find more out on my rides. The fun will be searching for them.
