Segufix and similar gear can be used in many ways. The versatility makes even more secure bondage very possible. In this case, we used the d-rings on the straitjacket to further restrict movement.

USMC Procedures for Application of a Straitjacket

In my research on uniforms, I found the procedures for straitjackets. To be honest, the scenario sounds rather exciting, under the right conditions of course. A whole assortment of restraints is needed – handcuffs, leg irons, and of course the straitjacket. What do you think?

From MCO 1510.86B (since deleted):

TASK: 5831.02.05 (CORE PLUS) DIRECT THE APPLICATION OF A STRAIT JACKET
CONDITION(S): Given a strait jacket, five assistants, a prisoner requiring
immobilized restraint, a set of handcuffs with key, and a set of leg irons.
STANDARD(S): Per the references.
PERFORMANCE STEPS:

  1. Form team of five assistants and conduct a brief.
  2. Control the prisoner.
  3. Direct one assistant to apply handcuffs.
  4. Direct one assistant to apply the leg irons.
  5. Direct one assistant to move into position with the strait jacket.
  6. Ensure one assistant is in position to control each one of the
    prisoner’s arms and legs.
  7. Remove handcuffs.
  8. With assistance, insert the prisoner’s arms (one at a time) into the
    strait jacket.

I’ve been working on my duty belt lately for my MP gear. I had a basic nylon belt with handcuff cases, leg iron straps, and a key holder. It seemed a bit empty, so I decided to augment the belt with other useful items. No weapon holders or weaponry will be on the belt for many reasons. If nothing else, going into a bar with weapons is usually banned and unnecessary. Using the USMC regulations for duty belts as a guide has also helped make my decision.

My duty belt now consists of:

  • Key Holder with backing
  • Two open top handcuff cases (hinged and chain)
  • C-Cell Flashlight holder / flashlight
  • Velcro-strap handcuff holder (high-security)
  • Two leather snapping straps (for leg irons)
  • Radio holder / radio and microphone
  • Rubber glove case (double)
  • Alarm holder (working out its function)

With all that, it seems pretty full and functional. I can hogcuff two prisoners if needed at the same time with a third also in handcuffs. From what I’ve been told in the past with the old setup, it was already “intimidating”. This should help. What do you think?
